Missions is an important part of church life. Missionaries are endorsed, commissioned, sent out from a local church and supported for their work in the Lord in answer to His Great Commisson in Matthew 28:19-20 where Jesus said, "Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost; Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I Am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen".
We at OBBC are an Independent Fundamental Baptist Church and therefore we choose our own missionaries. Some are supported because of their specific work, others were trained up, called, and sent out from our church. All are our family and we hold them close to us in prayer and financial support.
Below is some short bios of our extended family.
Rich Desmond
Our Missionary to Truck Drivers who travel our nations highways is Rich Desmond. Rich holds the title of Vice-President of TCCM and is responsible for contacting truck stops, finding churches to lead in chapel services, train up chaplains & their teams for ministry, and communicate with Chaplains, Pastors, Churches and Missions Representatives. Rich speaks of this ministry as he travels to churches throughtout the USA. A former Truck Driver himself, he is able to relate to drivers and to churches of the needs of drivers.
TCCM offers Gospel Services, bible studies, Cd's and cassettes, a web site at http://www.TCCMinistries.org and an 800# for 24 hour communication to drivers and their needs. Discipleship is an importanct part of their follow-up with drivers, thus Rich contacts Pastors in the drivers home area to visit with the family and direct them to a good church where they can be ministered to. Rich and his wife Linda have been members of The Old Bridge Baptist Church since 1976 and Rich continues his role there as an Elder and member of the Official Board. Linda serves in the Choir. Margaret Boch
